It is the focal point of all IFLA activities in the Region with the responsibility to maintain and disseminate the information generated by it.

In accordance with IFLA, which stimulates and promotes research and development in librarianship all over the world, the objectives of the Office in the area of Latin America and the Caribbean are as follow:

3. How does it operate?

The Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean is linked to the Latin America and Caribbean Section of IFLA's Regional Activities Division.

It operates in the area of Latin America and the Caribbean in order to facilitate the work of the Federation in this region.

The Regional Office and the Regional Activities Division work in close cooperation with the IFLA Core Programme for the Advancement of Librarianship (ALP) in order to promote improvements in information services in the developing countries.

The Newsletter is published twice a year in June and December by IFLA's Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean. It contains news about IFLA and its Sections, IFLA affiliates and members in the Region, news of interest to the Region and a list of publications received.
